In the Field

As part of my Documentation and Archival Research class, I have been assigned a building in Kingsessing (part of West Philadelphia) for our term project. Part of the assignment is to visit the site and collect photographs/drawings to enhance our research, so a group of students decided to go together this past weekend. Though it was a bit rainy, it is great to do field research and work in our surrounding neighborhoods. I think it is especially important to call attention to the historic fabric found in communities with economic hardship — relating back to the notion that preservation is not just for the elite.
